Saunter past the pleasure craft on Crinan Canal, built at the turn of the 19th century as a short-cut for commercial sailing vessels to the west coast and the Western Isles.

Travelling from Ardfern to Kilmartin Glen, imagine its heyday between the 6th and 8th centuries and discover its remarkable ancient heritage at Kilmartin House Museum. Experience the timelessness of Tayvallich in the inspiring scenery of Loch Sween and steam to wild Jura for walks from Loch na Mile. Cruise the legendary Mull of Kintyre to Campbeltown and a visit to privately owned Springbank Distillery, tasting the magic of the age-old single malt, with free time afterwards to explore.

From Brodick beneath Goatfell enjoy the changing landscapes of unspoilt Arran on an island tour, calling at Victorian Lamlash, picturesquely wrapped around its bay. At tiny, northerly Lochranza, home to a ruined 16th century castle, learn more secrets of whisky at the Isle of Arran Distillery, producing a unique single malt. By Loch Fyne, capture the quintessential Highland beauty of Archibald Campbell's Inveraray, Scotland's first planned town, witnessing the reality of 19th century life at the Jail. Autumnal Crarae Garden is a world apart in the afternoon, quietly lulled by the tumbling waters of Crarae Burn.

From Victorian Rothesay travel to the Neo-Gothic flamboyance of Mount Stuart House, ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute, adventurously designed by the 3rd Earl. On our last afternoon, relax on a cruise of Loch Long and Loch Goil, past Carrick Castle, en route to Greenock.
