Tuesday 29th May to Tuesday 5th Jun 2012

Savour the tranquillity of a full day of walks on tiny Ulva to the south-west, now owned by the Howard family, gaining insight into the harsh days of crofting at Sheila's Cottage Museum.

Onwards to the historic wildlife haven of Eigg, another Jurassic isle. Enjoy a choice of trails beneath pitchstone An Sgurr, perhaps climbing to the summit for sweeping views. The nature reserve of volcanic Rum offers refreshing walks beneath the Cuillin, or a visit to Bullough's Kinloch Castle, a time-capsule of Edwardian opulence.

Crossing to another world on Barra, walk or stroll at Eoligarry, rimmed by swathes of white-shell sands and turquoise-blue waters, berthed overnight in the shadow of Kisimul Castle at Castlebay. For walkers, the following day brings South Uist and a walk from Talladh to Newtown. This is followed in the afternoon by the Barpa Langass and Finn's People trail on North Uist, the wildest of the Hebridean landscapes. Or as a stroller, why not sit back and enjoy the historic isle of Eriskay and the contrasting scenery of North Uist on leisurely island tours?

Cross the Little Minch to the Inner Isles and Skye. From Uig walkers spend a challenging day walking through The Quiraing in Trotternish. Strollers explore this awe-inspiring peninsula on a coach tour, enjoying a seafood lunch at Flodigarry Country House Hotel, or simply cruise to Portree. At the head of Loch Nevis in remote, wild Knoydart lies tiny Inverie, our final port of call.
