Landing on the Small Isle of Canna, visit Canna House Walled Garden, a profusion of flowers, fruit and ornamental lawns, caringly rescued from neglect by the National Trust for Scotland.

Taste the delicious fresh oysters reared in the crystal clear waters of Loch Harport, delving into the secrets of seafood. North to Dunvegan Castle, stronghold of the MacLeods for over 800 years, and after an enlightening tour take lunch ashore at The Three Chimneys.

Here, at Shirley and Eddie Spear's top restaurant, relish the perfect combination of quality food served in a converted 100-year old crofter's cottage on the dramatic banks of Loch Dunvegan. From Uig experience the awe of the vast swathes of moorland Trotternish, studded with the sculptural pinnacles and pillar formations of The Quiraing.

Another gastronomic delight awaits at lunch in the award-winning Flodigarry Country House Hotel, steeped in its Jacobite past, with breathtaking views to the mighty peaks of Torridon. While away the afternoon at colourful Portree, also associated with the Young Pretender, and a port of departure during the notorious Clearances. Rimmed with flowerfilled gardens and exotic palms by the translucent waters of Loch Carron, Plockton is idyllic on morning strolls.

Returning to Skye for lunch at the Mitchelin Starred Kinloch Lodge Hotel learn more about Scottish cuisine during a cookery demonstration by Lady Claire Macdonald in another magical setting, our final jewel.
